Five Caribbean Islands You Need to Experience
The Carribean is known for its shimmering blue waters, picturesque islands and friendly locals. The Carribean Islands are a magical escape. You will find plenty of islands to choose from when planning your vacation. But it can be tough to narrow down your options and choose the spot for your next visit. Not sure which one to explore? Here are five Caribbean islands you absolutely need to experience.
Turks and Caicos
Turks and Caicos has long been a popular travel destination for those in search of a tropical escape. Home to one of the world’s largest coral reefs, it’s a prime destination for snorkelers and scuba divers, but there are plenty of other activities to check out if you’d prefer to stay ashore.
St Kitts and Nevis
These little islands don’t get much attention, making them the perfect destination if you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet on your Caribbean escape. Dotted with luxurious resorts, picture-perfect beaches and lush landscapes, you’ll find your relaxation here. Play a few rounds at the Royal St. Kitt’s Golf Club or rent a kayak and spend a day on the water – either way, you’ll have a blast.
This little island nation is jam-packed with things to do. Wander through the streets of St. George’s, sunbathe, swim or snorkel in the crystal waters of Grand Anse Beach, and sign up for a spice plantation tour to experience a taste of this country’s rich history. Don’t forget to sip on a rum punch from River Antoine Rum Distillery, which has been producing tasty bottles of liquor since 1785.
Technically comprised of hundreds of small islands, the Bahamas make a great Caribbean getaway, especially for those on a budget. The capital city is located on the island of Nassau, where you’ll find a vibrant market, a historic fort, and plenty of activities to enjoy. For an experience you won’t find anywhere else, head over to the Exumas, a chain of small Bahamian islands populated by swimming pigs.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines
This small island chain is another less visited destination, making it a perfect getaway for anyone looking to sit back and enjoy a relaxing vacation. From volcanoes and waterfalls to incredible beaches, there’s no end to the amazing scenery, and you’ll stay busy hiking, boating, and sunbathing.
While many of the island nations in the Caribbean are worth a visit, these are some of my absolute favorite spots to explore. Which Caribbean islands have you enjoyed the most? If your favorite didn’t make my list, leave a comment and let me know!
